Elena Rybakina v Lauren Davis Head to Head
The pair have never played each other before. This will be the first match between the 28 year old American, and the Kazakh, who is six years younger.

Qualifier Davis Upsets the Eleventh Seed
Davis, who has now dropped out of the world’s top 100, needed to come through two rounds of qualifying to make the main draw in Rome.
And, playing the French Open winner from 2017, Jelea Ostapenko, the world number 13 and 11th seed in Rome this year, the American seemed up against it in her first round match on Tuesday.
However, with the Latvian out of sorts, it turned into quite a one sided match in favour of the 28-year old American.
The tone was set when Ostapenko dropped her serve in the opening game of the match. Davis broke again and, although the seed recovered one of those breaks, she immediately dropped her serve again and the qualifier served out to love.
Again, Ostapenko put herself on the back foot by dropping her opening service game of the second set. She briefly hauled herself level, only to once more drop her serve. And, serving to stay in the match, she meekly gave up her serve one more time, and her tournament was over.

Rybakina Given Tough Test by Qualifier
Rybakina was given an easy enough looking first round tie against the neutral-flagged qualifier, Elina Avanesyan.
In the end, though, beating the world number 146 turned out to be much harder work than she might have expected.
That was evident in the first set where, the pair having swapped an early break, Rybakina went a break down to the 19-year old.
However, she showed her greater experience by immediately getting the break back, and then broke once more. Still it set was not done and there was still time for the pair to swap breaks again before the Kazakh player could finally put the set to bed.
Any hopes that she could then just shrug off the challenge of Avenasyan were quickly dashed as the qualifier stuck gamely to her and then broke, giving her the chance to serve for the second set.
The pressure, though, got to her, and she then dropped her serve, and then again, giving Rybakina the opportunity to serve for the match. Still Avenasyan was not finished and she fought back once more to force the tie-break.
Finally, though, Rybakina made her quality count, and she won the tie-break without dropping a point.
Rybakina v Davis Prediction and Tip
Rybakina has already been given one tough test by a qualifier, so she had better be prepared for another one. However, in theory at least, she has the better all-round game than the American.
