Diego Schwartzman v Marcos Giron Head to Head
Marcus Giron leads the H2H 1-0, winning 7-6(2), 7-6(4) in Paris (Indoor Hard) last year. It was a very close affair in which Giron took control during the tie breaks.

Schwartzman Looking to Repeat his 2020 Italian Open Run
Currently world number 15, Diego Schwartzman had reached the finals of the Italian Open in 2020 which led him to crack the top 10 rankings for the first time in his career.
In this year’s edition, the Argentine player defeated Miomir Kecmanovic in a first round thriller. Schwartzman won the first set 6-2 and it seemed like he would run away with the match.
But momentum shifted quickly and Kecmanovic started dominating the exchanges. Schwartzman dropped the first 12 points of the deciding set. He then had to save two match points at 4-5 in the third set before securing it 6-2, 3-6, 7-6(3).
Schwartzman is sitting on a 16-6 record on clay this year. The anomaly is he is yet to win an ATP title on clay this year. The former world number 8 is desperate to get back into the top 10 and a run into the finals or a possible title could help his case immensely.

Giron Looking for a Winning Formula
Prior to the Italian Open, Marcus Giron was on a 8 match losing streak which included 7 first round exits. He then won his first qualifer match here in Rome, lost the second but got into the main draw as a lucky loser.
Giron faced the unpredictable Alexander Bublik in the first round. Quite commendably, he came from behind after losing the first set, final score (3-6, 6-4, 6-3). For a player without many recent wins, it is always impressive to win after a set down.
This second round match is Giron’s best result in Rome. He now has a 2-6 record on clay this year, 8-14 on all surfaces. His game style doesn’t suit this surface, but how many times do we see a lucky loser make a deep run in a big tournament.
Having won their sole H2H match, he will have confidence that if he digs deep, he may have a chance to upset the 12th seed.
Schwartzman v Giron Prediction and Tip
Diego Schwartzman is the definite favourite here as his whole game is built around mastering the clay. Giron at best could take a set, but Schwartzman wins this 9/10 times on clay.
Tip: Schwartzman to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
