Alexander Zverev v Cristian Garin Head to Head
They played once before and it happened in 2019 in Munich. Garin won that match 6-4 5-7 7-5.

Zverev Looking Sharp
Alexander Zverev is looking very sharp this week in Rome despite having a long week in Madrid and playing the final there. The German is not foreign to playing a long week in Madrid and coming to Rome but every time he did, he usually disappointed in the Italian capital.
This week he has looked very sharp and very aggressive. Both the forehand and backhand have been working rather well and the serve too. Zverev did complicate a few matches as he usually does but every time he was able to escape in straight sets.
Against Garin, he can’t afford to complicate things because the Chilean is starting to look very close to his former self which nearly broke into the top 20. Zverev lost the only match they played before so he will certainly be very motivated to get his revenge.

Shoulder Fine and Garin Sharp
Cristian Garin struggled the entire year up until recently due to shoulder pain that had him contemplating eventual retirement from the sport. He toughened it out and now, fully healthy, Garin is looking very solid on clay. It’s his best surface by far and it’s showing.
This year he’s 7-7 on the year on the surface but recently he’s been rather good. Rome is going very well for him and he will certainly fancy his chances against a player that he defeated before. Things will be tricky and he is still not on top as he was a few years ago but he can get there.
Garin is very consistent, he moves well, he doesn’t give much away and you need to defeat him because he won’t beat himself.
Zverev v Garin Prediction and Tip
So they played once before in 2019 and it was Gari nwho proved better in Munich on clay. Now things are quite different as Zverev is even better and Garin is worse. Yes the Chilean is playing well but he is not in peak form as he was a few years ago. He still has a level to unlock and I’m not sure he will get it this week.
He can put up a good fight but I don’t think this current iteration of Garin is good enough to beat Zverev. Zverev will need to stay sharp, he can’t afford to gamble away the lead as he did against De Minaur. He will need to serve well and keep the points short.
If he does that he will cruise and I think he will do that. He shook off the Madrid disappointment quite well and I have yet to see him properly challenged in Rome.
Tip: Zverev to win in straight sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
