Stefanos Tsitsipas v Jannik Sinner Head to Head

The players have met four times with Tsitsipas leading the head-to-head 3-1.  Their most recent meeting was at the Australian Open quarter-final this year which was one by Tsitsipas in straight sets.

They have met three times on clay and twice here in Rome, with Sinner’s only win being at the 2020 Italian Open here.

Tsitsipas Continues Good Clay Form

After a good start to the season making the semi-finals at the Aussie Open, Rotterdam and Acupulco, Stefanos Tsitsipas lost his way a little during the Sunshine Masters.

However, the Greek did well to pull back on clay winning the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 for a second year in a row and then despite losing out to Carlos Alcaraz in Barcelona, did well to make the semis at Madrid last week on the wrong side of a decider against German Alexander Zverev.

It has not been the easiest of times for Tsitsipas this week, being down match point to Grigor Dimitrov in the second round before coming through in a final set tiebreak against someone he seems to be playing weekly this season.

Tsitsipas also lost the first set of the next round against Karen Khachanov but then came back strong losing only three games in the next two sets.

Runner-up at the 2021 French Open, Tsitsipas will likely not defend his title at Lyon next week and so will look to give his all over the next couple days and hope to leave Rome with a deep run and high on confidence ahead of Roland Garros that begins in ten days time.

Sinner Seeks Confidence Ahead Of Slam

Italian Jannik Sinner started the season well making the quarter-finals of the Aussie Open, Dubai and Miami but a mix of reasons ranging from injury to illness did see him miss tournaments and pull out of Indian Wells mid-tournament.

The Italian did well to make the quarter-finals at Monte Carlo to kickstart his clay season losing in a final set tiebreak to Alexander Zverev.

It was an embarrassing straight set loss for Sinner last week in Madrid to Felix Auger- Aliassime winning only three games in the round of 16, but he seems to have pulled it back better this week.

Sinner has had two convincing wins against Pedro Martinez and Filip Krajinovic and although veteran compatriot Fabio Fognini pushed him to a decider, the younger Italian did well to pull through.

The 20-year old will be hoping for a few  good days ahead buoyed by his home crowd and in with a shot at a confidence boosting weekend ahead of the French Open.

Tsitsipas v Sinner  Prediction and Tip

This will be a close match as both players look to made a deep run here ahead of the French Open. It will be down to who plays the bigger points better and the crowd being all for Sinner may play a factor here too.

Not much to choose between both men, but expect Sinner pulling this off, much to the delight of the home crowd in a decider.

Tip: Sinner to win in three sets: 3/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
