Kamilla Rakhimova v Claire Liu Head to Head
This will be the first meeting between the two players on the WTA Tour.

21-year-old Claire Liu hasn’t done a whole lot to leave her mark on the WTA Tour but that may very well change in the coming tournaments.
The young American won the biggest singles title of her career in the 125 Paris Challenger on Sunday, defeating Beatriz Haddad Maia in the final in straight sets. The tournament saw Liu register some impressive wins over several well-known players like Dayana Yastremska, Anastasia Gasanova, Varvara Gracheva, and Kaia Kanepi.
That performance also marked Liu’s first trophy of any sort since she won the ITF Charleston last May.
While the current World No. 118 has featured in a handful of WTA events this season, she couldn’t quite make it past the early rounds. Her best run of the season here came in Charleston where she reached round three before losing to Paula Badosa.
As a two-time Junior Grand Slam finalist (one title, one runner-up), Liu has the potential to go big – starting with a commanding run here in Rabat.

Rakhimova, Struggling for Wins
By contrast, Russia’s Kamilla Rakhimova hasn’t had that great of a time on the tour of late.
She participated in the Challenger events in Saint-Malo and Paris but lost in the opening rounds to Laura Pigossi and Kanepi respectively. Such has been the case for most of the tournaments this season although, she has proven to be a rather surprising player.
In Melbourne 2, Rakhimova was a quarterfinalist (starting as a qualifier) while in Bogota, she made it as far as the semifinal.
She has also got four WTA doubles finals to her name – the most recent of which came in the Istanbul Cup with Natela Dzalamidze.
Liu v Rakhimova Prediction and Tip
Liu has the momentum on her side which makes her the clear favourite in this match. She has also won a fair bit of ITF titles on clay courts – at least more than her upcoming adversary.
That said, Rakhimova can be unpredictable and if she finds her rhythm, there is no reason why she can’t trouble the American. All in all, we are looking at a good game of tennis.
