Pablo Carreno Busta v Gilles Simon Head to Head
They played seven times before with Pablo leading 5-2. The most recent one came in 2019 with Carreno Busta winning 7-5 7-6(4).

Carreno Busta Struggling Recently
Pablo Carreno has been struggling lately and it’s not coming at a very good time. The Spaniard had a run to the final in Barcelona but after losing to Carlos Alcaraz Carreno has been poor. Since then he is 1-3 on the year losing to players such as Botic Van de Zandschulp and Federico Coria.
That’s not particularly good for the Spaniard who is an excellent player on clay having reached the 4th round in Paris last year and the quarterfinal the year before. Pablo is having a decent year 16-11 but he’s only 7-6 on clay with those recent losses.
He will need to step his game and game some confidence but luckily the draw gave him quite a measured opponent in Simon. If he finally plays the way he can and he finds his form Pablo Carreno Busta will be tough to beat at Roland Garros.

Final French Open for Simon
Gilles Simon is set to retire at the end of the year and it’s going to be the end of a very good career. Simon won a couple of titles he was ranked in the top 10 but he never quite won a big one. The Frenchman was known for his defensive style of play and players hated playing him.
While hes’ not capable of producing at the same level anymore, Simon will try to put up a good show in his final French Open appearance. It would be good if he could win a match but considering his form this year and lately that’s going to be very hard.
He is 12-15 on the year and 2-7 on clay with the only two wins coming recently in the Lyon qualifiers. He can play against lower-ranked players but the moment he faces a younger and better player he losses. That is not good considering he is going up against Busta.
Carreno Busta v Simon Prediction and Tip
So this matchup is firmly on the racquet of Pablo Carreno Busta. The Spaniard is struggling lately but he is still good enough to beat Simon. Even if the Frenchman rolls back the years and produces a good level I don’t see him beating the Spaniard in this matchup.
He might win a set but eventually, Pablo Carreno Busta should be able to squeeze out a win. I will back him do it in three sets because Simon, there is a reason he is retiring at the end of the year. Even this version of Carreno should be able to do it comfortably.
Tip: Carreno Busta to win in straight sets: 1/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
