Azarenka is a former semifinalist at Roland-Garros but her overall record at French Open isn’t as good as she would probably like it to be.
She did reach the fourth round here last year but in the four seasons before that, she won a grand total of two matches at this competition. And this year, Azarenka hasn’t quite found her clay mojo either.
At least to the extent she would like too.
Her first foray on clay this season came in Madrid, where Azarenka reached the third round, losing to Amanda Anisimova in the process after starting out as a 4/3 underdog. This was followed by another third round exit in Rome where she won just five games against Iga Swiatek.
Azarenka would like to turn things around here in Roland-Garros this year, especially given that her draw till at least the fourth round seems to be sorted. Starting out against a player who has never seen a world ranking of better than 59 should help.

Bogdan Coming off a WTA 125 Semifinal
Given her drastic fall in the rankings, Bogdan has been forced to play lower level tournaments. She started off with a title win on the ITF circuit in January, having given the Australian Open a miss but what’s followed hasn’t been much to write home about.
Bondar failed to qualify for both, the WTA Doha and WTA Dubai competitions and then lost in the first round at Lyon.
It was on the clay courts of Marbella that Bogdan finally won a match, sending Donnak Vekic packing but then fell in the second. Another first round win followed in Istanbul before it needed Bondar to feature in a WTA 125 competition in Paris to get to the semifinals.
Can she put up a show against the former world number one though?
