Stefanos Tsitsipas v Lorenzo Musetti Head to Head

Both their meetings were in 2021 with Tsitsipas winning in Mexico City and in Lyon.

Tsitsipas Looking To Maintain Clay Success & Focus

The 2021 French Open runner-up Stefanos Tsitsipas returns to Roland Garros after another good run this season.

After a good start to the season making the semi-finals at the Aussie Open, Rotterdam and Acupulco, Tsitsipas lost his way a little during the Sunshine Masters.

However, the Greek did well to pull back on clay winning the Monte Carlo Masters 1000 for a second year in a row and then despite losing out to Carlos Alcaraz in Barcelona, made the semis at the Madrid Masters and the final at the Masters 1000 in Rome earlier this month.

Although Tsitsipas will be disappointed at not having gone further at either of Madrid or Rome, he is certainly coming into the French Open with a lot of confidence leading the tour at the moment with 31 wins so far this year.

It was another strong clay season for the Greek at the back of last year and he will be hoping to put the memories of the collapse from being up two sets to love in the French Open final against Djokovic behind him.

In addition to the strong form that Tsitsipas brings with him to Roland Garros, he is also one of the clear winners of the French Open draw with Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz in the other half. Good form and a favorable draw can all be the making of a strong run for the 2021 runner-up.

A tricky opening round awaits Tsitsipas though, and the two-time defending Monte Carlo Masters 1000 champion will be wary of Lorenzo Musetti his first round opponent.

Musetti Hoping For First Round Upset

Young Italian Lorenzo Musetti had a strong run in early 2021, making the semi-finals of the ATP 500 at Acupulco as well as at the ATP 250 in Lyon, incidentally losing out both times to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The Italian made his Grand Slam debut at the French Open last year and made the round of 16, where he led Novak Djokovic by two sets to love but retired trailing 0-4 in the fifth set.

He broke into the top 60 in the ATP rankings as a result of this run, but did not do much thereafter for the rest of the season.

The 2022 season was somewhat of a start-stop season for him making the quarter-finals of the ATP 500 at Rotterdam but did not do much else for the rest of the hard court and indoor season heading into clay.

Musetti has had a mixed run of clay but done well to register noteworthy wins against Felix Auger- Aliassime (Monte Carlo),  Dan Evans (Barcelona), Sebastian Korda (Madrid) among others.

The Italian will be looking forward to a good run in Paris and more so turning the tide in his head-to-head against Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas v Musetti Prediction and Tip

This is one of the more exciting first round matches to look forward to.  Musetti is an exciting player and fared well in the French Open last year; however he is will have his funds full in the opener and definitely given recent clay success, Tsitsipas starts as a strong favorite.

Expect a good contest but the Greek has been in good touch this season especially on clay and should be expected to prevail in a well-contested three setter.

Tip: Tsitsipas to win in three sets: 8/11 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
