Frances Tiafoe v Benjamin Bonzi Head to Head
The pair have played each other once before in their junior days, Tiafoe winning in straight sets.

Tiafoe has a dismal record in Paris – in his six previous visits he has never been beyond the first round.
That does not necessarily means he struggles on clay – he has twice been a finalist in Estoril, most recently last month where he was beaten by the Argentine Sebastian Baez.

Bonzi Recent Challenger Tour Winner
It was at the French Open five years ago that Bonzi made his Grand Slam debut, and marked the occasion with a win over Daniil Medvedev
However, despite a good record in the doubles events in Paris, it has taken him until now for his ranking to reach the level where he qualifies for the main draw on merit, without the need for qualifying or reliance on wildcards.
And that, in part, is due to his form on the Challenger tour, where he won an event in Cherbourg in France on hard courts.
More pertinently, was his victory in a clay court tournament in Aix-en Provence less than two weeks ago.
Now he will be keen to show the French crowds what he can do on the senior tour.

Bonzi will enjoy the support of the local crowd and will relish the opportunity to show them what he can do. Tiafoe will go into the match with the psychological issue of his poor record in this tournament to overcome. But, by the law of averages, his luck in Paris has to change sometime.
