Having just turned 19 years of age, it has been a phenomenal year so far for Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.

Alcaraz impressed in 2021 winning the ATP 250 at Umag, making the final eight at the US Open defeating Stefanos Tsitsipas en route as well as winning the Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan.

However, his career has taken off this season making him the one to ‘watch’ and ‘ watch out for’.

After a third round loss to Matteo Berrettini at the Aussie Open, Alcaraz has been on a tear winning the ATP 500 in Rio, and then pushing Rafa Nadal in their semi-final at Indian Wells.

Alcaraz has upped the ante since and won the  Masters 1000 in Miami.

Coming onto the clay it was an opening round loss to Sebastian Korda at Monte Carlo, but the teenage Spaniard has since been ruthless.

Alcaraz went on to win the Barcelona ATP 500 including playing the semi and finals on the same day and coming back from match-point down in the emis.

The sensational Spaniard added the Madrid Open Masters 1000 to his bag defeating each of Novak Djokovic, Rafa Nadal and Alexander Zverev en route to the title.

Taking a week off and skipping the Rome Masters 1000 to rest up, the Spaniard arrives in  Paris and deemed a huge possibility of him winning his first title of the year.

Londero Seeks Revival of Form

Juan Ignacio Londero was once  ranked in the top 50 in the world in the ATP rankings and even made the round of 16 here at Roland Garros in 2019, the same year he won his only ATP title at the Cordoba Open ATP 250.

Later in the same season, the Argentine made the finals of the Swedish Open where he was runner-up to Nicolas Jarry.

It has not been the best of seasons for Londero in the last year or so as he has dropped out of the top 200 in the ATP rankings.

Looking to make a comeback, the 2019 Cordoba Open winner did well to make the final four again there this season after spending most of last year on the ATP Challenger circuit.

However, the Argentine was unable to maintain that form for the rest of the LatAm swing. Londero did not play on the main tour thereafter returning to the Challengers where he has a poor 1-3 record coming into Roland Garros.

While Londero will be hoping for a good outing here and repeating his performance from 2019, he will have his hands full currently against the red hot Carlos Alcaraz.

Alcaraz v Londero Prediction and Tip

This could make for a good match-up but Londero has not been in the best of form of late and Alcaraz with penty of expectations from all will feel some of the pressure.

Nevertheless, expect a strong start by the Spaniard and his Roland Garros campaign off to a good start.
