She is 2-3 on clay this year and has a 8-11 record on all surfaces. Although Martincova has played only 11 matches on clay in her past 2 years, her WTA career begun with her getting results mainly on clay.
Martincova’s best result in the Roland Garros came last year when she only reached the second round. Prior to 2021, she had failed to make the main draw in 5 attempts through the qualifiers.
Despite not winning many matches, it has to be noted that her game has developed a lot this year and though results are not falling her way, two wins in a row can change her season’s trajectory.

An interesting clash between two players who are without confidence and have not been able to generate wins on clay recently. Although Rogers has done well in Roland Garros in previous years, Martincova’s game style is suited to absorb the power Rogers generates and we could see too many unforced errors from the American.
