Novak Djokovic v Yoshihito Nishioka Head to Head
This will be the third meeting between both players with Djokovic winning both meetings. Their first meeting was at the 2019 Davis Cup and then the next at the 2020 Aussie Open, both straight set wins for Djokovic.

Djokovic Begins Title Defense
Djokovic’s title victory last season surprised a few but not as many as it did when he lost three of the first nine matches he played on clay this season. Rustiness would have played a part as the world number one was returning from a two-month break following his Australian Open vaccination saga.
Things are moving back to normal for Djokovic though.
At Rome, in what was his fourth tournament on clay this season – and just his fifth overall – the Serb served up a notice why he is still the favourite to lift the title here at Roland-Garros.
Djokovic overcame five stiff opponents, Aslan Karatsev, Stan Wawrinka, Felix Auger-Aliassime, Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsitsipas, all of the wins were in straight sets, to open his title-winning account.
And he now faces a player who has never been ranked better than 48th in the world. Easy pickings for Djokovic.

Nishioka Faces Stiff Task In Opener
In the previous three editions of French Open, Nishioka has made it to the second round each time. This time around though, he will be up against it as he takes on the world number one and a tournament favourite first up.
And not that Nishioka would have had it easy with anyone else either given his poor form.
The Japanese, world number 96, has lost four successive matches on clay coming into this one and his only two wins on this surface for 2022 had come in the qualifiers of the Munich Open.
Can he put up that famous fighting spirit and push the world number one in each of the sets, is the only realistic expectation out of this here.
Djokovic v Nishioka Prediction and Tip
While Nishioka is an able and skilled player with good results in the past, beginning any major against Novak Djokovic is no easy task and lesser so when he is looking to revive Grand Slam glory after a difficult year coming in with a win at the Rome Masters 1000.
A trouble-free opening round win for the world number one.
Tip: Djokovic to win in three sets: 2/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
