Laslo Djere v Ricardas Berankis Head to Head
Their only two previous meetings have come on the Challenger circuit before this and both players have won one apiece. Djere won the one on clay though which was played in 2017 in Perugia.

Out of action because of fitness issues for two months, Berankis only returned to competitive tennis last week with an appearance at the Geneva Open. And while he lost in the first round there to Federico Delbonis, it wasn’t all one-way traffic.
Clay, however, isn’t quite Berankis’ calling by the looks of things given his results on that surface aren’t much to write home about.
Of the 40 matches Berankis has played on clay, he has won a mere 12, which compares very poorly to his 108-101 record on hard court surfaces.
With hardly any practice on this surface for the season and his overall struggles on clay, it doesn’t need a very smart person to go against his victory in this encounter.

Djere Solid on Clay
It has been a decent showing from Djere’s racquet in clay court competitions this season, with the Serb having overturned a couple of first round defeats earlier this year to get himself a few good results after that.
The South American swing hadn’t gone too well for Djere as he suffered back to back defeats in Buenos Aires and Rio. When he returned to clay in April though, things have turned around.
At Marrakesh, Djere made it to the semifinal and then got past Maxime Cressy and Lorenzo Sonego to reach the third round of the Monte-Carlo Masters as well.
A second round defeat at Belgrade to Novak Djokovic was par for the course but not before the match went to three sets with two of them finishing up as tie-breakers.
And in the lead-up to this campaign, Djere fought tooth and nail to make it to the main draw of the Rome Masters, defeated Borna Coric in the opener before going down to Stan Wawrinka in three.
He should have the confidence to get the better of Berankis here.
