Amanda Anisimova v Donna Vekic Head to Head
Anisimova leads the H2H 1-0 winning 7-6(4), 7-6(6) in the 2020 Rome Masters. It was a first round match in which Anisimova was playing her first clay match of the season.

27th seed Anisimova came through a difficult opening round on Court Suzanne Lenglen against 4 time Grand Slam champion Naomi Osaka. She won 7-5, 6-4 and was extremely dominant when Osaka was serving.
Anisimova is 11-3 on clay this year and is an outside favourite to win Roland Garros. She reached the semifinal in 2019 as a teen and lost to eventual champion Ashleigh Barty.
This will be Anisimova’s third time playing a second round match in Paris. She has previously won both her second round matches in straight sets.
The 20 year old American has the level of a top 10 player when at her best. Her aggressive baseline game is almost unstoppable, her only weakness is her serve which is not consistent. Other than Iga Swiatek, no other player can dominate her from the baseline in this year’s draw.

Qualifier Vekic on a Winning Streak
Vekic came through her first round match beating Swedish tennis player Mirjam Bjorklund 7-6(6), 6-2. The first set was actually going Bjorklund’s way as she had won 3 games in a row. Vekic overturned the first set around and took full control in the second.
Currently world number 100, Vekic had to come through the qualifiers to play in the main draw. She beat Robin Anderson, Louisa Chirico and Anastasia Gasanova in the qualifiers.
The Croatian had two poor years through 2020 and 2021 causing to slip down the rankings. She was once the world number 19 in 2019.
Vekic has been trying to get back to her best level and win matches on a consistent basis. Her current winning streak of 4 matches is her best streak in 2022. She will be looking forward to test her current level against an in form Anisimova.
Anisimova v Vekic Prediction and Tip
Both players are quite stable in their baseline game but Anisimova is the more attacking minded player while Vekic doesn’t mind to get in the defence. We will either be seeing a high number of unforced errors or winners from the racket of Anisimova that will decide the match.
Based on the match against Osaka, it is safe to say the probability of Anisimova dominating through winners is much higher and she should be able to get through in straight sets.
