Magda Linette just delivered one of the biggest wins of her career and a major upset at the Roland Garros 2022. It took the Pole well over two hours to defeat Ons Jabeur 3-6, 7-6(4), 7-5. Whether Jabeur was having a bad day or Linette was too good, she won the match on the back of a 73% first-service win rate and some incredible persistence.
The onus is on her to prove that she is not a one-hit-wonder – a job that’s easier said than done.
The 30-year-old has a decent record in Paris, having reached the third round a couple of times. Most recently, she reached the quarterfinal in Strasbourg, Charleston, and WTA 125 Saint-Malo; in other clay tournaments, Linette was beaten in the early matches.
For what it’s worth, 2022 has been one of the better seasons for Linette on the red dirt. She also won the doubles in Charleston with Andreja Klepac.
In the preceding tournaments, the World No. 52 failed to make it beyond round two. Many of her losses have come against lowly-ranked opponents like Astra Sharma, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, Alison Riske, Ekaterina Alexandrova, and Anna Karolina Schmiedlova. A precedent for Trevisan is certainly set.

Trevisan Stuns Dart
Martin Trevisan continued to build on her recent success with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Harriet Dart.
The win follows her maiden WTA title in the Rabat Open last week where she upset the likes of Garbine Muguruza, Arantxa Rus, Lucia Bronzetti, and Claire Liu. That was a historic moment for the 28-year-old Italian, who managed to turn around a fairly underwhelming season.
Up until then, her previous best result was reaching round two in the Australian Open and the quarters in WTA 125 Marbella.
Nonetheless, Trevisan is now ranked #59 – a career-best for her – and is propelled by this newly found rhythm. Armed with 17 ITF clay finals, she will hope to put that experience to use here.
Linette v Trevisan Prediction and Tip
There is not a whole lot that separates the two players; they are similarly matched and haven’t experienced a whole lot of top-tier success. Linette has the edge with four WTA finals to her name while Trevisan, a breakthrough star, has been slightly more consistent on the whole of late.
This match can swing either way but once again, this can go well over 20.5 games.
