Cecchinato Rallies Past Andujar

World No. 132 Marco Cecchinato loves playing in Roland Garros and that was proved after his come-from-behind five-set win. over Pablo Andujar in the opener on Tuesday.

The Italian, who had won just 3 of his 15 matches this season (across levels), rallied from two sets down to send the Spaniard packing and advance to the second round of the tournament for the fourth time in his sixth attempt. He was a shock semifinalist in 2018 and has reached the third round in the previous two editions.

In a three-hour-and-43 minute contest, Cecchinato lost the first two sets despite going a break up early in both. He however raised his level in the third, bageling Andujar and then forced the decider after coming back from a break down. By the fifth the momentum had shifted towards the Italian, who bagelled the World No. 98 once again to win 4-6, 4-6, 6-0, 7-5, 6-0.

Cecchinato struck 74 winners (33 more than his opponent) and made 42 unforced errors (4 less than Andujar) during the match. He had 20 break point chances and he converted half of them, while saving 11 of 16. Can he reach the third round for the third successive year?

Hurkacz v Cecchinato Prediction and Tip

Hurkacz is playing well on clay this season, while Cecchinato has struggled for most parts of the year. The Italian will draw inspiration from his opening round win, but may find it tough to beat the 12th seed. Expect Cecchinato to win at least a set, but Hurkacz should edge through.
