The Italian player won her first match on clay this season by defeating Shuai Zhang in the first round of the French Open. Zhang actually took the first set but Giorgi cut down on her unforced errors and found her zone. She won 3-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Putintseva Having a Strong Season
Putintseva is having a great year with a 16-9 record. She recently reached the Round of 16 in Rome as a qualifier and the semifinal of Istanbul last month. She is now 10-4 on clay.
The Kazakhstani tennis player beat Romanian Irina Bara 6-3, 6-1 in the first round here. Putintseva grew into the game with every point and become extremely dominant in the second set.
Putintseva has reached the quarterfinal of Roland Garros on two occasions, in 2016 and 2018. With the form she is in, she will believe she can match her best result here.
The 27 year old has a power packed game. Once she senses she has the more stronger baseline game, she will be all over her opponent and will be heard out loud.

Camila Giorgi will be aggressive as usual while Putintseva will mix things up trying to break the Italian’s rhythm. Giorgi can hit through Putintseva’s defense however she may also end up hitting a high number of unforced errors.
