Iga Swiatek v Coco Gauff Head to Head
Swiatek has won both their previous meetings, winning in Rome last year and in Miami this year, both in straight sets.

Swiatek Demolishes Kasatkina
The way Daria Kasatkina had brushed aside her opponents in the first five rounds of the tournament, there was a feeling that Iga Swiatek would have her task cut out in the semifinals. But such has been the World no. 1’s form this season that hardly anyone can intimidate her.
Swiatek came out firing on all cylinders on Thursday. Kasatkina matched her over the first four games of the contest, but then the Polish player pulverised the Russian with her power and precision. Swiatek struck 22 winners and made just 13 unforced errors, against Kasatkina’s 10 winners and 24 unforced errors during an impressive 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Given how Swiatek has been playing this season, she was expected to extend her unbeaten run to 34 matches, but barely anyone would have predicted such a lopsided semifinal.

The Pole, who ended the 64-minute contest with an ace, converted five of 10 break points in the match, while getting broken just once in the third game of the first set.
She was so good on her serve that she didn’t face another break point in the contest. Following the impressive performance, she is now just a win away from a second Grand Slam title.
Her first came at this very venue two years ago, when she stunned the world with her dominating run to the title as a 19-year-old.
Ranked No. 54 back then, she became the lowest-ranked player to win the French Open since rankings were introduced in 1975. The world sat up and took notice as Swiatek began her climb towards the top of the women’s game, and in 2022, she has distanced herself from the rest, raising her level to such great heights that she now looks unconquerable.
Five consecutive titles leading up to Roland Garros is a testament to that. The last time she lost a match, it was in February in Dubai. Since then she has won 34 straight matches, which ties her with Serena Williams’ 2013 record for the second-longest winning streak in the 21st century. A win in the final would tie the 21-year-old with Venus Williams’ record of this century, set in 2000.
Given the aura of invincibility around her, Swiatek is a heavy favourite to win her sixth consecutive title on Saturday, following her wins in Qatar, Indian Wells, Miami, Stuttgart and Rome.
And barring just one match against China’s Qinwen Zheng in the third round, she has looked extremely comfortable throughout the tournament, making swift work of Lesia Tsurenko, Alison Riske and Danka Kovinić in the first three rounds and Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinals. She was at her best in the semifinal and would be expected to match that level in the final.
But she runs into another rising young star, who has made an impact at a very young age and is now one win from the biggest victory of her career.

Gauff Powers Past Trevisan
She caught the eye with an emphatic performance as a 15-year-old at Wimbledon in 2019, reaching the fourth round on her Grand Slam debut, which included a win over Venus Williams in the opening round. Since then there has been a lot of expectations from Coco Gauff and the 18-year-old has lived up to it so far.
On Thursday, she added a new title to her resume: Women’s Singles Grand Slam finalist.
She has captured the French Open title before, but that was at the junior level in 2018. She has also reached a women’s doubles Grand Slam final, falling short of the title with partner Caty McNally at the U.S. Open last year. Having now reached the biggest final of her career, can she end Swiatek’s unbeaten streak and capture the title agains the odds?
While she won’t be the favourite to win on Saturday, one person who will definitely not take her lightly is Swiatek. Gauff’s been a dominant force throughout the tournament and has not lost a set in the six matches leading up to the final.
She put up another convincing performance in the semifinal on Thursday, outplaying Martina Trevisan 6-3, 6-1. While the Italian showed some resistance in the first set, coming back from a break down twice to draw level at 3-3, she just couldn’t match-up to the American for the rest of the match.

Gauff dropped just one more game in the match before winning the contest in an hour and 28 minutes.
The World No. 23 improved to 20-10 this season and will be featuring in the first final of 2022. She has barely been troubled in the first six matches, which includes wins over Rebecca Marino, Alison Van Uytvanck, Kaia Kanepi, Elise Mertens and Sloane Stephens in the first five matches respectively.
She has the potential of winning a Grand Slam, but will that come at the age of 18?
Swiatek v Gauff Prediction and Tip
