The first men’s singles semifinals will see the 13-time French Open winner Rafael Nadal face Alexander Zverev with the match expected to kick start not before 2.45 pm local time. This will follow the wheelchair doubles semifinals.
Nadal has taken out his biggest obstacle from a whopping 14th title at Roland-Garros in the form of the world number one Novak Djokovic while Zverev tamed the crowd favourite Carlos Alcaraz in four sets to set up this meeting.
What was interesting to note is Nadal was a huge underdog going into his quarterfinal against Djokovic, but tamed the 20-time Grand Slam winner in what could even have been a straight-set victory.
Nadal had earlier been stretched to five sets by Felix Auger-Aliassime but put up a kind of display against Djokovic that rendered his opponent listless. On the other hand, Zverev extracted sweet revenge against Alcaraz for his defeat at the Madrid Masters final.

Ruud will have a chance at making it to his first ever Grand Slam final when he faces Marin Cilic in a match that will follow the Nadal-Zverev semifinal.
A clay-court player to behold, Ruud has won five titles at the highest level but never reached this far at a major. Over the last 13 matches, Ruud is 12-1 on win-loss which includes a title at Geneva.
On the other hand, Cilic has rarely done so well on clay having never reached the semifinal stage at Roland-Garros. Even earlier this year, Cilic had won and lost four matches apiece on clay.
But with wins over Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev under his belt already in this competition, there is a good chance the former Grand Slam winner could use some of his experience to go the distance here.
What Cilic would need is for his serve to aid his cause but can he match up to the booming Ruud forehand? We will know soon.
