Donna Vekic v Harriet Dart Head to Head

Donna Vekic has had her trysts with injuries in the last couple of seasons. She underwent surgery and the consequent hiatus due to recovery kept her out of action for most of the tour this year.
As a result, the 25-year-old Croatian is now ranked World No. 100 – a far cry from her career-best ranking of #19.
Her tally for 2022 stands at 7-7; most recently, she reached the second round in the French Open as a qualifier. That was only her seventh tournament of the season and her third upper-tier event. In the preceding competitions, Vekic was beaten in the early rounds by rather unexpected opponents.
This is only natural as Donna is not at the top of her game. That said, she has nine singles finals to her name – two of which came right here in Nottingham.
Vekic is more than equipped to play on grass and has always fared well here; if there was a time for her to rise up, the next few weeks would be it.

Dart in a Rut
London-born Harriet Dart is on a six-match losing streak. The Brit has lost her first-round bouts in Paris, ITF Great Britain, ITF Wiesbaden, Madrid Open, Copa Colsanitas, and Miami Open.
Her only noticeable run of any sort came in the Indian Wells where she reached the fourth round – all the way from the qualifiers – after moving past Elina Svitolina, Ana Konjuh, and Kaia Kanepi. Dart ultimately lost to Madison Keys.
With a career-high ranking of World No. 99 (achieved only this year in March), Dart has clearly not made that many waves on the tour in her career. The 25-year-old has always been more or less on the sidelines with her sole highlight being the Wimbledon mixed runner-up feat from last season.
Vekic v Dart Prediction and Tip
Vekic is the clear favourite here; she has a solid pedigree and a good record in Nottingham. Barring any physical constraints, she should do well to dismiss the local favourite and breeze into the second round comfortably.
