Joao Sousa v Radu Albot Head to Head
They are 2-2 from their tour-level meetings and 3-3 from meetings at all levels. Albot won their only meeting on grass in Antalya in 2017.

Sousa In Decent Touch
After a couple of poor seasons, Portugal’s Joao Sousa seems to be enjoying a decent run this year. Having ended last year as World No. 140, he has broken back into the top 100 and thanks to a title and a runner-up finish, he has climbed to No. 63 in the world.
The 33-year-old Sousa claimed his fourth career title in Pune in February and then reached a 12th ATP final in Geneva last month, falling to Casper Ruud in the title clash.
He brings a 12-8 season record to Stuttgart and in his most recent performance, he fell to Lorenzo Sonego in the second round at Roland Garros.
Sousa doesn’t like grass as much as the other surfaces, which is reflected in his overall 14-22 record.
Having not made it through the qualifiers last year, he will be making his debut in Stuttgart this season and looking to win his first main draw match on grass since his run to the fourth round of Wimbledon in 2019.

Albot Qualifies Following Halys Withdrawal
Radu Albot has qualified for the main draw after his second qualifying opponent Quentin Halys of France withdrew from the contest after just three games in the match.
The Moldovan had beaten Germany’s Oscar Moraing 6-3, 6-4 in the first qualifying round.
Albot, who has mostly been playing on the Challenger Tour this year, is 4-3 on the tour in 2022.
On grass, the 32-year-old has a 7-9 overall record. He came through the qualifiers in Stuttgart last year as well, but fell in the first round to Dominic Stricker.
Albot made his grass debut this season at the Surbriton Challenger last week, but lost the opening round match to Gijs Brouwer in straight sets. Albot too has not won a main draw match on grass since beating Matthew Ebden in Halle in 2019.
Sousa v Albot Prediction and Tip
Sousa will be the favourite to win this match and advance to the next round. Expect him to win in straight sets.
