Andy Murray v Alexander Bublik

Murray had opted out of the entire clay court season to prepare for the grass swing and that seemed to have helped him, both at the Surbiton Challenger and now in the first round here when he overcame Chris O’Connell in straight sets.

Bublik, on the other hand, was stretched by Denis Kudla but truth be told that was anybody’s match and that Bublik managed to come away in straight sets could be an indicator of his improved grass play. He had made the third round at Wimbledon last year too.

These two players have faced off on grass once before and that had resulted in a straight-set win for Murray at Wimbledon. How much that could have a bearing isn’t sure given Murray was a different breed of player in 2017 but he sure has our edge here given his overall proficiency on grass.

Tip: Murray to win: 5/7 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Elise Mertens v Alison van Uytvanck

On paper, Elise Mertens should start off a favourite but her form in recent times does not provide a lot of confidence even to back her at her current odds of nearly 4/5 to win this.

This is also partially to do with how well van Uytvanck has done on grass in her career and in more recent times. Featuring on the ITF circuit, van Uytvanck registered five wins in a row at Surbiton to lift the title there and then crushed Tamara Korpatsch in the first round here.

Which is why odds of 11/10 against a player showing form vulnerabilities could be a good wager to make here.

Tip: Alison van Uytvanck to win: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)

Hubert Hurkacz v Marton Fucsovics

While Fucosvics has won both their previous encounters, it must be quickly added those matches came on hard court. Also, Hurkacz is a much better player now than all those years ago, and has done well this season too.

Is he a better grass court player though? The jury might still be out on that one but against a player who has himself not had the best time on this surface, one has to back Hurkacz and while it could get to be a tight encounter, we could be looking at a straight-set win for Hurkacz.

Tip: Hurkacz to win in straight sets: 11/10 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
