Benjamin Bonzi v Oscar Otte Head to Head

While they have never faced off at the highest level, there has been one previous meeting at the Lyon Challenger which was held in 2021. Otte won that match on clay in three sets.

Bonzi Continues to Remain Solid on Grass

These are early days in the career of Bonzi, as far as grass court tennis is concerned and he would be quite chuffed at the way things have gone.

Last year, for instance, Bonzi had helped himself to a semifinal appearance at the Nottingham Challenger and followed that up with qualifying wins at Wimbledon that took him to the main draw. There he reached the second round before going down to Marin Cilic.

Here, in Stuttgart, Bonzi has already registered back to back wins, both of which have come in straight sets too.

In the first round, Bonzi overcame Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 6-1 before getting stretched slightly in the second by Arthur Rinderknech. He still managed to come away with a 7-6 (3), 6-2 victory that sets him nicely for a quarterfinal berth against the heavy-serving Otte.

Can Bonzi make it to the last four?

Otte Continues to Rule the Tie-Breakers

Here’s Otte’s record in tie-breakers in his career before coming into this tournament. 15 played, just five won.

In Stuttgart, he has been involved in four sets, all of which have gone into the tie-breaker and Otte has won every single one of them!

It started with a 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4) win over Daniel Altmaier in the first round and was followed by Otte dishing out the same punishment to Denis Shapovalov, winning 7-6 (6), 7-6 (4).

Otte needed to save a set-point in the first set but once he had that out of his way, there wasn’t much looking back. He lost just four points on his own serve in the second set and completed the win in the tie-breaker off his very first match-point.

So while Bonzi starts off with a lot of confidence in this encounter, Otte’s record in tie-breakers in this tournament should keep him in a good stead, especially given his solid serving.

Bonzi v Otte Prediction and Tip

We are looking at a very close encounter, a coin-toss. Expect this to either go the distance or see at least one tie-breaker.

Tip: Over 23.5 games in the match: 5/6 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
