The Russian started strong with the opening set being close and going to a tiebreak. But, once the Canadian prevailed 7-5 in the tiebreak and broke timely in the second, it was all one way traffic and a straight sets win for a spot in the semis.

Van Rijthoven Dream Week Continues
Not much was expected out of the wildcard van Rijthoven who had only played one match on grass in his career before this. That had come at the Surbiton Challenger qualifier last week and he had fallen in three sets in his very first encounter.
Instead, van Rijthoven managed to come away with a shocking opening round win over Australia’s Matthew Ebden, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (9) to enter the second round of this competition.
In the second round, the Dutchman came back from a set down to defeat the number one American and Indian Wells champion Taylor Fritz. The American won an epic opening set tiebreak 11-9 before van Rijthoven prevailed 7-5, 6-4 in the next two sets.
Playing Hugo Gaston of France in the quarters, it was a fourth consecutive tiebreak win for the Dutchman this week to seal the opening set. With his smooth playing style, van Rijthoven prevailed for a 6-2 second set win and a final four spot.

It has been a phenomenal few weesk for Rijthovenm but the ride ends here. Expect some tight moments, but overall a straight forward routine win for Auger- Aliassime.
