Camila Giorgi v Tereza Martincova Head to Head

The season so far hasn’t been kind to the Italian star, World No. 26 Camila Giorgi.
In all the tournaments she has featured in so far, there have been only three instances where she won her first-round match. Two of those came in the majors in Melbourne and Paris while the last instance was in Nottingham.
As a result, her tally for the year now stands at a disappointing 8-9. Last week, she was off to a harrowing start on the grass she fell to Harriet Dart in round two after defeating Sonay Kartal in the opener in straight sets.
A quarterfinalist here in 2017, Giorgi has since failed to move past the second round in Birmingham. Moreover, she has been quite erratic of late as she has failed to win a singles title since that surprising run in the Canadian Open last season.

Martincova, Facing Fitness Concerns
Tereza Martincova made a bit of personal history last week by reaching her first semifinal on the grass courts last week.
Playing in Nottingham, she dismissed the likes of Oceane Dodin, Magda Linette, and Shuai Zhang to reach the elite four. In the semis game with Beatriz Haddad Maia, the Czech was forced to retire in set two trailing 3-6, 1-4, citing pain in the right knee.
The question now remains whether her discomfort has eased or not; the match was only on Saturday and 48 hours may not be enough for Martincova to recover. Of course, a lot depends on the extent of her pain as well.
Up until then, Tereza had endured a mediocre spell – just like Giorgi. Her campaigns were ended in opening rounds, barring St. Petersburg and Doha where she reached round three.
Giorgi v Martincova Prediction and Tip
Giorgi is the favourite here, at least on paper. By the looks of it, she looks well-positioned to reach round two – especially when we take Martincova’s health woes into account. A walkover possibility also exists here.
That said, the Italian is not entirely consistent and should Martincova feel much better, then she may find herself in a stiff fight.
