Maria Sakkari v Daria Saville Head to Head

Continuing her grass season, Maria Sakkari commenced her campaign in Berlin with a clinical 6-3, 6-2 win over the French qualifier Leolia Jeanjean in the opener.
The win follows her quarterfinal stint in Nottingham last week where she fell to the eventual champion Beatriz Haddad Maia in three sets.
Now ranking World No. 6, Sakkari has had an eventful season so far. Her tally stands at 23-11 and for a short period, she was also ranked in the top 3. While her clay season was quite uneventful with a sole quarterfinal run in Rome being the highlight, the Greek was a lot more impressive on the hard courts.
Sakkari was a finalist in St. Petersburg and Indian Wells Open, and also made it to the final four in Doha.
As for her pedigree on grass, she is still building it and statistically, it’s her worst-performing surface of the three.

Saville Continuing her Resurgence
After being out of action for the last few seasons, Daria Saville has finally started to play tennis consistently – irrespective of her results.
The 28-year-old started the season outside the top 400 while dropping down to the early 600s. She is now ranked World No. 104 and a good result here will propel her back into the top 100.
Her biggest wins came on hard courts. Savile reached the quarterfinal in Guadalajara and Miami, and round four in Indian Wells after upsetting Ons Jabeur, Shuai Zhang, and Elise Mertens. The Aussie also reached the third round in the French Open.
While her last grass tournament in Den Bosch ended in a first-round exit at the hands of Caty McNally, she did well in Berlin to survive an upset.
As a qualifier (defeating Noma Akugue and Sabine Lisicki), she met Jil Teichmann in the first round and delivered the win with 6-7(2), 7-5, 6-2.
Saville v Sakkari Prediction and Tip
This should be an exciting match. Sakkar is the odds-on favourite but Saville is geared to carve the upset. Both players are also on similar footing, at least on grass.
The match can swing either way but we may be looking at a long affair.
