Greet Minnen has faced two consecutive first round exits on grass and will hope to gran her first win in Bad Homburg.
Minnen faced Anna Blinkova in the the Hertogenbosch Open and lost despite taking the first set 6-2. She faced Kateryna Baindl Kozlova in the new WTA event at Gaiba and lost in straight sets after a close first set.
After having a very good 2021 season, Minnen hasn’t been able to get going this year with a 13-12 record in 2022.
She is quickly slipping down the rankings and needs to have a strong second half this year in order to stay in the top 100.
Minnen hasn’t played many matches on grass in her career, however in 2019 she reached the quarterfinal of the Hertogenbosch Open as a qualifier. She is taking part in Bad Homburg for the first time in her career.

Cornet Looking to Turn Season Around
Alize Cornet started this season by reaching the quarterfinal of the Australian Open. Since then she has struggled to win matches and has a 9-14 record this year.
Her career record on grass has been quite poor and hence the grass swing comes at a very tricky time for the Frenchwoman.
Cornet played in Berlin where she lost to Anna Kalinskaya 4-6, 4-6 in the first round. She played in Bad Homburg last year and had reached the second round where Victoria Azarenka got the better of her in three sets.
The veteran is not in good form and is searching for her first win on grass this season. She will be happy with the draw and will feel she is the favourite going into it.
