Daniil Medvedev v Hubert Hurkacz Head to Head

It’s 2-2 from their previous four meetings, with Hurkacz winning their latest matchup in Miami this year. The Pole also won their only previous grass court meeting at the Wimbledon last year.

Medvedev Ousts Otte

Daniil Medvedev marched into a second straight final on Saturday after knocking out local hope Oscar Otte in the semifinal of the Halle Open.

Medvedev, who was stunned by Tim van Rijthoven in the Rosmalen Open final last week, shook off that upset this week, as he entered his 25th career final without dropping a set.

The 13-time tour-level champion wasn’t even broken in the first three rounds in Halle, saving all 17 break points that he faced over the three matches. But he couldn’t keep that record intact in the semifinal as Otte did break the Russian once in the first set to take a 3-5 lead. The German held a set point while serving at 40-30 in the next game, but Medvedev saved that before going on to take the first set in the tiebreak.

Medvedev got the only break of the second set in the sixth game and he held on to the lead for a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 victory.

Medvedev had begun his campaign with a 6-3, 6-2 win over David Goffin in the opening round and followed it with a 7-6, 6-3 victory over Ilya Ivashka in the second round. He got his first victory over Roberto Bautista Agut in their fourth meeting in the quarterfinal, when he defeated the Spaniard 6-2, 6-4.

The Australian Open finalist is yet to win a title this year, can he beat Hurkacz in his third final of the season on Sunday?

Hurkacz Ends Kyrgios’ Run

In a match that witnessed as many as 57 aces, Hubert Hurkacz made a terrific comeback to power past Nick Kyrgios in the semifinal on Saturday.

The World no. 12 struck 51 winners, including 27 aces in the match, while Kyrgios hit 50 winners, including 30 aces in an edge-of the-seat battle which required a third set tiebreak to separate the two.

The Aussie got the only break of the match in the first set, which helped him go one-set up, but the Pole fought back, dominating the tiebreak in the second set and edging out the World no. 65 in the tiebreak in the third for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-4) victory in two hours and five minutes.

Last year’s Wimbledon semifinalist, Hurkacz was ousted in the first round in Stuttgart, but he has found his rhythm in Halle.

After battling past Maxime Cressy in the first round, Hurkacz knocked out the defending champion Ugo Humbert in Round 2 before edging out Felix Auger-Aliassime in two tiebreaks. Overall he is 5-0 in tiebreaks this week and will be ready for another nail-biting clash on Sunday.

Hurkacz has a perfect 4-0 record in finals, but will be featuring in his first final of the season on Sunday. Can he make it 5-0?

Medvedev v Hurkacz Prediction and Tip
