Madison Brengle is known to play a very distinct style of tennis but it’s not been working as intended in the past few weeks. Just last week she lost to Sarra Errani in Portugal on grass. That looks very bad on the resume and it’s unclear how that happened.
Sure, Brengle is not the greatest tennis player in the world but the American should certainly be capable of beating Errani on grass. She’s 2-3 on the surface, but both of these wins came a few weeks ago in Surbiton and against players that are far from the top of tennis.
Since then it’s been three consecutive defeats from Brengle who is clearly struggling with her level at the moment. She’s been pretty okay on the surface in the past but her biggest weakness is really troubling her on grass. She has a rather weak serve, even for WTA standards and in this age of tennis, it’s a problem.
Most players attack it early in the rally and most of the time she simply has trouble keeping herself in it. She can play well but if her serve is wobbly then it’s over. It’s too weak and too easy of a target, especially on grass.

Solid Play From Dart
Harriet Dart has been playing tennis for a while but only know she’s findin herself a bit on the tour. She is on the verge of breaking isinde the top 100 and she certainly belongs there.
The level overall is prety good and this year it’s been quite stable. 16-16 is nothing to write home about but it’s good enough because after all, consistncy is crucial in tennis.
Dart is 3-3 on grass so far this year with a quarterfinal in Nottingham (lost to Alison Riske, the finalist) and round two loss in Birmingham (to Simona Halep).
Overall she’s demonstrated a fairly high levle on grass with the losses coming against better players. She spoke about it after the events as well admitting to feeling really good on the court after dealing with some personal stuff off the court. It certainly shows in her level.
She’ll definitely fancy her chance here as she should beat a struggling Brengle at home on grass. There are is no other way to put it.
Brengle v Dart Prediction and Tip
Brengle is the higher-ranked player and has more experience but Dart is the better player at this moment. I genuinely believe that because she’s more comfortable on grass and she’s looked very good. In order to beat Dart you need to take the match to her and Brengle is not goin to do that.
She will resort to her usual tactic of getting her opponent to beat herself but Dart is too solid for that. She will know how to respond with variety and win this match. Back the Brit.
