Daniil Medvedev v Aslan Karatsev Head to Head
There have been three previous matches between these two players including one in the qualifying stages of the ATP Moscow in 2014 and surprise, surprise, Karatsev has won all of them. This will be Medvedev’s best chance to pull one back.

Medvedev has 13 ATP titles under his belt and just one on grass. It could very easily have been doubled or tripled this month but the world number two reached two successive finals and lost both of them.
The first, at Rosmalen, was a shock loss for starters.
Medvedev had gone into the encounter against Dutch wildcard Tim van Rijthoven with 3/20 odds to clinch it and went down 6-4, 6-1 in a horror showing.
Recovering from that loss, Medvedev then demolished four successive opponents in straight sets to reach the final at Halle where he had another chance of adding to his tally of titles on this surface.
Instead, this time, Medvedev fell in similar fashion to Hubert Hurkacz, losing 6-1, 6-4 to the Polish player.
With Medvedev not participating at Wimbledon, he would want to return home with at least one title under his belt on this surface before the start of the next season and a solid showing here against a player he has never won against us could be a good starting point.

Karatsev Breaks Five-Match Losing Streak
In what has been a bizarre season for Karatsev, he has won just 10 matches and lost 15. And in doing so, he has already won an ATP title, one that came in Sydney in January in the lead-up to the Australian Open.
Karatsev had then reached the third round at the year’s first major but since then had won only three matches all year coming into this tournament.
Which is why, despite playing Jaume Munar, a player who has done nothing of note on grass in his career, there were no clear favourites in that encounter.
The Russian then overcame the loss of the first set before carving out a three-set win over Munar, registering a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory. Expecting him to make it four wins in a row against Medvedev, however, would be hoping for the stars.

Medvedev should have no trouble getting past his struggling countryman, making it to the quarterfinal in straight sets.
