Bonzi Showing Promise On Grass
France’s Benjamin Bonzi started his grass season spectacularly, defeating Feliciano Lopez and Arthur Rinderknech in straight sets in Stuttgart. He was serving extremely smoothly and his return game was as efficient.
Unfortunately few hours before his quarterfinal match against Oscar Otte, he had to withdraw due to abdominal pain.
In the first round in Halle, he faced the second seed in Stefanos Tsitsipas and took him to three sets. He played well and gave a good fight but was not able to convert his break chances in the third set.
The Frenchman played qualifier Alejandro Tabilo in the first round in Mallorca. He was winning comfortably 6-3, 4-2 when his opponent had to retire hurt.
Bonzi will now play a seeded player two tournaments in a row. He is 3-1 on grass this year and has an exceptional career winning percentage on grass of 76%.
Shapovalov v Bonzi Prediction and Tip
The form of Shapovalov may provide more reason to favour Benjamin Bonzi as an underdog in this match up, however the Canadian is a top ranked player and is bound to find his level soon. Bonzi doesn’t have a good tie break record and could be on the wrong side of the pressure points.
