Camila Giorgi v Rebecca Marino Head to Head
Their only previous outing came on the ITF circuit in 2010 where Marino overcame Giorgi 6-2, 6-1 to reach the quarterfinals.

Grass has held a special place for Giorgi with the Italian player having won one of her three WTA titles on this surface other than dishing out her best ever performance in a Grand Slam at Wimbledon too when she reached the quarterfinals in 2018.
This year, Giorgi has had a mixed showing so far.
The world number 29, who is at her career-best ranking at the moment, reached the second round at Nottingham where she was shocked by Harriet Dart despite starting out a 1/4 favourite in that encounter.
Two wins later, Giorgi marched into the quarterfinal at Birmingham Open only to get knocked out by Beatriz Maia Haddad in straight sets.
What she would now hope for is to come up with a strong performance against the lucky loser Marino, who is playing on grass for the first time this year since 2011.

Marino Doubles Her Grass Win Count
The last time Marino had walked out on to a grass court before the start of this season was way back in 2011. This year, however, the Canadian player has featured in Nottingham, Birmingham and now Eastbourne and made the main draw at each one of them.
In fact she also won her opener at Nottingham and now here again as a lucky loser she has managed to overcome Heather Watson in her first round match.
Marino registered a 7-6 (1), 6-4 victory over her British opponent, needing an hour and 43 minutes to get there. She slammed seven aces and broke her opponent three times while losing her own serve twice to complete the victory.
It would be interesting to see if she can put up a similar kind of a fight against Giorgi but with the kind of form she has shown on grass all season it could get interesting.

Giorgi starts off a favourite at 3/5 but for a world number 29 to enter into a match against a player, ranked outside the top 100 and so inexperienced on grass, to have those kind of odds offered, we would take that.
