Kirsten Flipkens v Viktoriya Tomova Head to Head
It’s advantage Flipkens with 1-0 who defeated Tomova in the 2017 St. Petersburg qualifying round. They also met as recently as this weekend in the qualifiers where Flipkens won once again in three sets.

Tomova Makes the Most of Her Chance
Viktoriya Tomova is 27 years old with a career-best ranking of World No. 103. Her current ranking is some 25 places below and rightly so, she is quite unheard of on the WTA Tour.
But one more win in Eastbourne and she would have made some serious ripples.
Tomova started her campaign as a qualifier and after surpassing Anna Danilina, she lost to Flipkens 6-4, 2-6, 6-7(4). However, she still managed to earn a ticket to the main draw via the lucky loser rule. Not only that, but she got a direct entry into round two by replacing Ons Jabeur.
In her opening match, Viktoriya upset Shelby Rogers 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to reach the third round.
This is also her best run of the season with her previous WTA highlight being the first-round appearance in the French Open and Australian Open, in addition to a round-two stint in Monterrey. Tomova also spent some time on the ITF circuit where she was the runner-up in ITF Oeiras.

Flipkens Carves Mertens Upset
World No. 257 Kirsten Flipkens is set to retire from singles tennis soon with Wimbledon being her last tournament. The 36-year-old faces a limited number of matches to leave her mark on the tour and needless to say, she will not go out without a fight.
Playing as a qualifier in Eastbourne, she made it to the main draw and has since defeated Maryna Zanevska (6-2, 6-3) and Elise Mertens (6-2, 2-6, 6-1).
A couple of weeks ago in Den Bosch, she reached the quarterfinal after defeating Anastasia Tikhonova and Ann Li. Before that, Flipkens played in the hard-court tournaments in Australia, the Middle East, and the US – losing in the opening/qualifying matches in all of them.
Flipkens v Tomova Prediction and Tip
Tomova has the advantage of physical dexterity and endurance on her side; she will start as the odds-on favourite but Flipkens, being experienced and determined as ever, will look to make it 3-0 over the Bulgarian. Expect an entertaining match of tennis that can go either way.
