Somebody might have to pinch Ryan Peniston to believe all this is actually true. The Britsh World No. 147 had the week of his life at Queens last week and has since written a second chapter to his fairytale run on the ATP Tour.
Peniston won tour-level matches for the first time last week, scoring a mammoth first-round win over Roland Garros finalist Casper Ruud. As if to prove that win was no fluke, he edged out Francisco Cerundolo to make his third quarterfinal on the bounce, and first at tour level.
Peniston has since kept the good vibes flowing as he continues to repay the British faithful for a second wild card entrant in succession. He opened up his Eastbourne account with a comeback win over Holger Rune and is now one win away from making the quarterfinals at his fourth tournament in the past three weeks.

Martinez Advances After Compatriot Retires
Pedro Martinez benefitted from a huge slice of luck to reach the second round of Eastbourne International. The 25-year-old was playing Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in an all-Spanish first-round meeting and had been trailing by a set and a double break.
But even with a 6-1 4-1 lead, Davidovich Fokina could not quite cross the finish line as Martinez bravely recovered one of the breaks. Then the former Junior Wimbledon champion tumbled badly on the court, hurting himself in the process. Davidovich Fokina served for the match at 5-4, but was broken back again.
The match would go into a decisive tiebreak, and agonizingly, Davidovich Fokina slipped for the second time when he had a match point, and this time it was more damaging. Martinez miraculously won the set, and Davidovich Fokina had no option but to retire due to pain.
Peniston v Martinez Prediction and Tip
Martinez was clearly under the cosh in his last match and it took an agonizing tumble from his opponent and a bit of luck to reach the second round. But I can’t see the Spaniard moving further as he comes up against the in-form Ryan Peniston.
The Briton is riding the wave of home support and should maintain this dream run of tour-level success.
