Marcos Giron v Mackenzie McDonald Head to Head
Their only main draw match at the highest level came at the Cincinnati Masters of 2020 and Giron had won that in straight sets.

Giron Breaks Five-Match Losing Streak
It took a lot out of Giron but he did manage to overcome a five-match losing streak by overcoming the in-form Botic van de Zandschulp in the opener here.
Having coming into this match on the back of back to back first round losses on the grass courts of Stuttgart and Halle, Giron overcame the loss of the first set and needed a final set tie-breaker to get past his Dutch opponent.
Giron frittered away two set points in the opening set, lost the advantage of a break of serve in the second before coming back to win it and later retaliated from 0-3 down in the final set to carve out a 6-7 (8), 6-4, 7-6 (2) win over van de Zandschulp.
The match lasted a good two hours and 42 minutes but it would have satisfied Giron no end after his successive defeats on the circuit.

McDonald Scrapes Past Sousa
It took McDonald three sets and a touch over two hours to get past Joao Sousa in his opening round encounter, despite having gone in as 1/2 favourite into the match.
McDonald won 4-6, 7-5, 6-1, overcoming eight of the nine break-points he faced in the entire match. He lost his serve only once, in the opening set and that cost him the set.
After that, he overcame three break-points in the very first game of the second, frittered away three of his own in the sixth game before breaking his opponent in the 12th game to level the match.
The final set turned out to be a cakewalk with McDonald facing no resistance from the now-tiring Sousa as he wrapped up his second win on grass for the season. He had earlier made the second round at Halle as well.
Giron v McDonald Prediction and Tip
While McDonald starts off a favourite here, we think there’s not much to choose between these two players. Expecting Giron to give his opponent a fight that takes the match to the distance.
