Badosa Hoping to Get Better on Grass

Badosa has a fourth round appearance at Wimbledon under her belt and it came as recently as the previous season. That, however, is the only one time she won anything successive in the main draw of a grass court competition!

In 2019, she had participated in both, Rosmalen and Mallorca and won a round apiece there.

And this season, Badosa played in Eastbourne and was bundled out of the first round by Britain’s Jodie Burrage despite starting out a 1/5 favourite in their encounter.

Badosa’s showing on clay hasn’t been the most impressive either. The Estonian player won two successive matches in three of the tournaments she featured in on clay but could do nothing more of note – a third round exit at the French Open being her best showing.

Can she shrug her recent mediocre form aside and traverse through this Wimbledon draw?

Chirico Qualifies for First Grand Slam Since 2017

Chirico has a career-high singles ranking of 58th in the world but things have gone south for her since then. The American has fallen to outside the top 200 and it’s taken her nearly six years to qualify for her first major.

She has been active on the lower, ITF circuit in the meantime but wins at the highest level have been few and far between and most in the qualifier rounds.

Like, after winning the clay court title at the ITF Charlottesville, Chirico managed to win a qualifier at the French Open earlier this year but but lost in the very next round to Donna Vekic.

Chirico then came to Wimbledon to play her first match in this competition since her opening qualifier loss at the 2017 Wimbledon. Three wins later, Chirico has made the main draw and while that’s a big step in the right direction, would it be enough for the American as she looks to test the world number four?

Badosa v Chirico Prediction and Tip

Badosa should have no major qualms here on paper but given her own form and the fact Chirico is showing signs of some of her previous best, we could see a bit of a contest here.

Tip: Badosa to win AND Over 19.5 games: 6/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
