Kontaveit on a Three-Match Losing Streak
Things looked to be going very well for Kontaveit and her rising to the number two in the world bears testimony to this fact. The Estonian had already won a title at the St. Petersburg Open and could have made it two in two when she fell to Iga Swiatek in the final in Doha.
Life hasn’t been as easy for Kontaveit since then though.
A third round exit at Indian Wells Open and a second round ouster in Miami, were followed by a 2-3 win-loss on clay. And it’s those three defeats on clay that Kontaveit will be on to enter Wimbledon this season.
Her absence from the grass court season having earlier confirmed her participating in Berlin is down to the after-effects of the Covid virus. And with that being the case, a very rusty Kontaveit, not to mention a player with question-marks on her fitness, could be taking court here.
Will she coast through as a world number two should this early in the tournament?

Pera’s Never Made it Past Round One Here
She has had a career-high ranking of 59th in the world but Pera’s performances on grass haven’t been the best.
In main draws of grass court tournaments played on grass, Pera has won just one match and that came in Nottingham in 2019. Unfortunately for her, there have been no other victories since and it’s also seen her feature in three Wimbledon editions and lose in the first round at each one of them.
Pera has been lucky to qualify for this year’s Wimbledon without having to go through the qualifiers, with a few pullouts allowing her to scrape through to the main draw.
However, with Pera having not had much to show this season except on clay, it looks highly unlikely for her to challenge the might of Kontaveit here.
Kontaveit v Pera Prediction and Tip
Kontaveit is a huge favourite coming into this one and we expect her to cruise to the second round for the fourth time at Wimbledon.
Tip: Kontaveit to win in straight sets: 3/5 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
