Danielle Collins v Marie Bouzkova Head to Head

Primarily a clay and hard-courter, Collins has struggled to get going on grass in her career. In the 11 matches she has played on this surface all time, she has won just five with a third round appearance at Wimbledon in 2019 being her best showing.
This year, Collins kick-started her season with an exemplary showing at the Australian Open where she rode into the final before going down to Ash Barty. Unfortunately for her, she hasn’t been able to reproduce that kind of performance in any of the tournaments she’s played in after that.
The American has missed a few too because of fitness concerns, and comes into Wimbledon on the back of three successive second round exits on clay – at Madrid, Rome and Roland-Garros.
Collins also opted not to feature in any of the grass court competitions preceding Wimbledon which could hamper her preparedness coming into this Grand Slam. Can she turn things around in the manner that she had at Australian Open where again she hadn’t played a single match in its leadup?

Bouzkova’s Won Just One Round at Wimbledon
Known for her play on hard court surfaces, Bouzkova’s record on grass isn’t the kind she would be looking at entering into this match against the Australian Open runnerup Collins.
To go with that, Bouzkova has won just one round at Wimbledon before this, a victory that came in 2019 against Mona Barthel. She fell in the very next round to Maria Sakkari.
This year, Bouzkova has had a couple of good runs with a final at Guadalajara to go with a third round appearance in Indian Wells. A change in surfaces to clay saw her make the third round in Madrid but she retired from her second round match at the French Open that followed.
Returning from her injury issues nearly a month later, Bouzkova lost her only match on grass in Eastbourne to Shelby Rogers. Tough going then and it’s only going to get more difficult against her American opponent.
