Roberto Bautista Agut has always been a very good grass player because his flat groundstrokes do wonders on this surface. When you add to that his generally precision with his serve and shots it makes it a very tricky opponent to beat.
Consistency is the word that best describes Bautista Agut as there are very few players that have held a longer consistent level than him over the past few years. He’s not in the top 10 but he’s not that far away. If you give him chances he’ll beat you.
He did that to Daniil Medvedev in Mallorca recently moving to the semifinal which he will contest today. Overall a strong grass preseason for Bautista as he hopes to channel that into a very good Wimbledon.

Balazs’s First Grass Match since 2019
Attila Balazs has played only six matches on this surface and he only 3 of them. It’s not a bad winning mark for a player who exclusively made his name on clay courts.
He’s been somewhat of a later bloomer only finding success very late in his career but a couple of strong years propelled him into the top 100. He can play tennis, don’t be mistaken but grass tennis has always been a question mark. Balazs did not play on the surface since 2019 and only played 9 matches in total this year.
A 4-5 record tells you he probably is not in that great of a shape and this will be an incredibly hard matchup for him. They placed once and Bautista won that easily and something similar is largely expected here as well. Not much to add there.

So we have a player who caught fire in Mallorca on grass this week going against a player who played only 9 matches with the last one being almost a month ago.
