Djere Looking for a Rare Win on Grass
Laslo Djere has never been a very good grass player and his 3-9 career record on the surface paints quite a vivid picture. It’s mostly down to his playstyle with his groundstroke having a lot of spin which rarely works on this surface.
You can make it work but his level is not that good to do it consistently. He has won matches on grass in the past and last week took Nick Kyrgios to 3 sets in Mallorca but overall it’s not his preferred his surface. It’s not a secret, he knows it and many others do too.
It’s been a strange season for Djere overall with a 14-14 record and he can certainly do better. There were some good moments like the Monte-Carlo Masters but for the most part, it’s been disappointing. I don’t see it changing for the better at Wimbledon but he will try.
He reached the 2nd round in his two previous tries so he might go for round 3 this time around.

Main Draw Wimbledon Debut for Tabilo
Alejandro Tabilo never played in the main draw of Wimbledon but he will get that chance this year. It’s not a terrible draw for him and Djere is certainly a player he can beat on this surface. His career record on the surface is 4-6 and that’s better than most clay courters.
Tabilo actually grew up in Canada largely playing on hard courts and he’s still good on them. Perhaps that’s something that can help him adjust to these courts better than his clay prowess. He started the year superbly in South America on clay but his level has fallen off a cliff since then.
He’s still 28-16 on the year and a lot of that is due to the hot start in the year. Both of his wins on grass came in the Mallorca qualifiers. One of them was against Verdasco so keep that in mind. It’s not a huge win but still.
He did retire against Bonzi in Mallorca so there might be some physical issue. In a best-of-five match, that might be crucial.
Djere v Tabilo Prediction and Tip
Laslo Djere never played Alejandro Tabilo but they agree that they love playing on clay. Neither has shown much on grass but the Serbian is the better player. He has more experience on this surface and has reached the 2nd round of Wimbledon in 2021 in 2019.
I think he’ll do it again because I don’t trust the physical health of Tabilo. That retirement against Bonzi makes me wary of his fitness and I fancy Djere more.
Tip: Djere to win in four sets: 4/1 (Click Here to Bet with bet365)
