Benoit Paire took a leave of absence from tennis after some poor results on clay leaving fans wondering when he will return. Well, it seems like he got bored and he will play at Wimbledon.
Of course, he will, it’s Wimbledon. So it’s been a very tough year for Paire. He had more on-court incidents than wins. His record is 6-19 and that looks better than it actually was. He’s been vocal about his frustration saying things work in practice but on the court they don’t.
Nobody knows whether that’s true but he is simply struggling to keep up a high level. Not caring about whether he wins or loses doesn’t help him either. That attitude is his biggest enemy as he simply plays points too casually. If things go wrong he just adds fuel to the fire and watches himself burn.
Paire is tremendously talented so it’s a shame that it has come to this but he can only blame himself.

Superb Year for Halys
Quentin Halys seems to have finally figured it out as the Frenchman is having a superb year with a 40-15 record overall. Those superb results on the challenger tour allowed him to break into the top 100 and he did not stop on grass. He went 4-3 ahead of Wimbledon with some solid wins.
Beating Denis Kudla on grass is notable no matter how you look at it. His game is centred around his spectacular serve which is very hard to counter. On grass even more so but he’s not very consistent with it. Against Kudla he was unplayable but then in the next match, the serve was nowhere to be seen.
How this match unfolds will largely depend on the serve. Halys can’t match Paire in the talent department but he can certainly show more fight and care about the match more. If the serve shows up he should have no problems. Whether it does remains to be seen.
Paire v Halys Prediction and Tip
Benoit Paire won their previous match but since then he regressed quite a bit while his opponent got better. Paire never was a superb grass talent but his career has generally been a huge disappointment so let’s not go there. Overall I think he will win this match. I have no idea why but I think he will pull it off.
I advise against betting on him because I don’t trust him to show up and neither should you. Halys has the tools to beat him and he probably will, especially if the serve shows up. I could easily see Paier getting frustrated with the amount of aces Halys hits.
