It’s 2-0 to Trevisan; she last beat her compatriot in the 2022 WTA Lyon in straight sets.

Trevisan, Shoddy on Grass
28-year-old Martina Trevisan started the season outside the top 100; she is now World No. 27 and looks forward to building on her recent success.
It’s easier said than done as the grass was never a strong suit for the Italian. Moreover, she is not the most consistent performer in the batch either – as evident from the fact that a good chunk of her season’s victories so far came in her last two tournaments.
Martina won her maiden WTA title in Rabat and followed it with a semifinal run in the French Open – a career-best result for her in majors.
She followed it with a doubles appearance in Gaiba Challenger (quarterfinal result) and a singles stint in Bad Homburg – where she lost to Bianca Andreescu in the opener in straight sets.
As for Trevisan’s history in Wimbledon, she has never made it past the first round here. Last year, she succumbed to the then #370 Elena Vesnina in straight sets.

Cocciaretto, Hopeful of the Upset
Elisabetta Cocciaretto, age 21, also finds herself with a similar clay-court pedigree. Although her tally for the season stands at an impressive 25-8, majority of those wins came in low-tier events.
She picked up three ITF finals and one Challenger final – all on clay – while in the WTA events, the current World No. 117 was beaten in the opening rounds.
One thing to note is that Cocciaretto was slated to play in Valencia and Gaiba Challengers but she withdrew from both those tournaments. Perhaps, she is not as fit as she would have preferred to be – thus raising questions about her prospects in London. It is also worth mentioning that this will be her debut at the SW19.
Trevisan v Cocciaretto Prediction and Tip
Trevisan is the clear favourite here but given her lack of form and inconsistency, Cocciaretto has the precedent set for her. Backing the underdog Italian may not be the worst play – especially at the odds at which she is available. But for those seeking safety, a 2-0 win for Trevisan seems doable.
