Following a season to remember on the clay court surfaces of Madrid, Rome and at the French Open, Teichmann had risen to a career-high ranking of 22nd in the world but things have been a touch underwhelming since.
The Swiss player has featured in a couple of grass court competitions in the lead-up to this year’s Wimbledon and lost in the first round at both of them. Making matters worse is Teichmann’s losses came at the hands of players who had both gone into those matches at odds of 11/10 or thereabouts.
In Berlin, it was Daria Saville who got the better of her while at the Eastbourne International, Harriet Dart took her down in three sets.
The only positive to take from both those encounters for Teichmann was the manner in which she fought till the very end, but will that be enough against a player who is a lot more experienced on grass?

Tomljanovic was Wimbledon 2021 Quarterfinalist
Grass has been Tomljanovic’s go-to surface and that can be seen from her best Grand Slam performance which has come at Wimbledon.
In fact it was last year, where Tomljanovic made it to the last eight stage, usurping her 2014 French Open showing of a fourth round appearance. And to get to the quarterfinal, it had taken Tomljanovic wins over Alize Cornet, Emma Raducanu and Jelena Ostapenko.
This year around, Tomljanovic was a losing quarterfinalist at Nottingham, suffering a surprise loss at the hands of Viktorija Golubic and then fell to Ostapenko in straight sets in the Eastbourne second round.
However, it comes as no surprise the Aussie starts off a favourite in this one against a player struggling so badly on grass that she is yet to win a match on it.
