Challenger Tour Prep for Vesely
Jiri Vesely opted for a very interesting way of preparing for Wimbledon as the Czech layer exclusively played Challenger events. His ranking is not terrible so he could have played ATP event but for some reason, he opted against it.
He went 2-2 in those events and that’s not that impressive. Vesely has a rather good game for grass because his serve is just hazardous. Novak Djokovic experienced it will in Dubai where the surface favours servers quite well. The Serbian simply could not break Vesely at all which speaks volumes.
Since that victory, the Czech player did not break out in any major way having a 16-15 record which is okay. Both of his defeats came against solid grass players in Ryan Peniston and Jack Sock. Both went to three sets so his matches are clearly competitive.
If he keeps serving well he’ll beat Coria but how much farther he goes remains to be seen.

Does Coria Care for Grass?
There is really not much you can write about Coria and grass tennis. The Argentine played only three matches on the surface and lost all three. He’s Delbonis lite basically having never one on the surface but Coria is even more allergic to grass than his compatriot.
He prepared for Wimbledon by playing some more clay evens skipping all grass events. That tells you enough about how much he cares about this event and you should take that quite seriously. He played well though, reaching the final that will be played on Sunday, one day before he is supposed to play at Wimbledon.
It remains to be seen how he will fit all of that in the schedule but if he opts to travel to London and play he will have it tough. Coria lacks the skills to win on grass simply because every single one of his tennis instincts is wrong. The movement, pretty much everything.
A player used to a high bounce will struggle with a low bounce. And playing Vesely won’t help him there.
Vesely v Coria Prediction and Tip
I don’t really know what to tell you here. Vesely should win this comfortably but I would not be shocked if he needed three tiebreaks. The Czech player is very to break but he doesn’t break players often either. His forehand is a major weapon as is his serve and that should be enough to win this one.
