Dayana Yastremska v Ana Bogdan Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players with Yastremska winning both. One of them came in the qualifiers of the 2018 Beijing Open while earlier this year they met again in Lyon where Yastremska needed three sets and two tie-breakers to get through.

Yastremska Hoping to Get Back Her Grass Mojo

Yastremska seemed to have kick-started her grass court swing on a solid note this season but enters Wimbledon on a 2-3 win-loss record. And that would be disappointing for someone who has a fourth round showing at Wimbledon the last time she played here.

Because after going down in a fighting battle to Ekaterina Alexandrova in the first round at Rosmalen, Yastremska showed what she is capable of by getting past Magda Linette and Jelena Ostapenko in the first couple of matches in Birmingham.

Unfortunately for her, a defeat in the next match to Shuai Zhang and then again in the Eastbourne opener to Donna Vekic wouldn’t have gone down too well.

Especially the Vekic loss in which Yastremska won just two games in the entire match.

Can the Ukrainian player now turn things around at Wimbledon?

Bogdan Coming off Gaiba Quarterfinals

Having opted not to play in any of the WTA 250+ events on show over the past three weeks, Bogdan featured in Gaiba, a WTA125 event in Italy.

And she looked to have gotten herself a solid showing, with a couple of wins that took her into the quarterfinals where she eventually lost to Harmony Tan.

Other than that, however, Bogdan hasn’t had the best of times on grass in her career. Her best showing at Wimbledon, for instance, was the second round place in 2017 where her only win came against Duan Yingying, a little known Chinese player.

Which is why these two wins in Gaiba should hold her in somewhat of a good stead but will that be enough to upset the Bogdan apple-cart? Seems very unlikely.

Yastremska v Bogdan Prediction and Tip

Yastremska’s poor run to Wimbledon will be trumped by Bogdan’s struggles on grass. Backing a Yastremska victory here.
