It was a matter of an hour and six minutes in which Halep ensured there would be no trouble for her in the opening round against Karolina Muchova.
Muchova won a sum total of five games in the entire match, falling in a jiffy at the hands of the Romanian number one.
Such was Halep’s domination in the encounter, she did not face a single break-point and eked out four breaks of service on her way as well.
Two of those breaks came in third and ninth game of the first set, before Halep wrapped it up in the fourth and eighth game of the encounter. It was Halep’s seventh on grass this season to go with one loss.

Flipkens Struggles Continue at Wimbledon
Having done quite well on the rest of the tour, it is no surprise when someone’s tries to help them there are question-marks raised.
Flipkens wasn’t quite at her best but still managed to carve out a 7-5, 6-2 win over Jaimee Fourlis in her opener. The match lasted an hour and 43 minutes.
There was an exchange of serves to kick-start the match, and then another in the fifth and sixth games of the opening set before clinching the all-important break in the 12th game of the set.
Flipkens followed that up with back to back breaks of serves in the second set to help herself carve out the victory.
Can Flipkens now take Halep to task as well or was that a one-off sighting for round one here?
