David Goffin had zero issues in his clash against Sebastian Baez beating the tricky Argentine comfortably in three sets. It was a bit surprising to me because Baez rarely gets beaten that easily. And it was rather easy 6-1 6-2 6-4 in about 100 minutes of play.
Goffin was pretty strong on his serve losing only 10 points after his first serve. He did struggle a bit more after 2nd serve but overall he faced only 3 break points saving two of them. On return, Goffin did a lot of damage on both serves and he was generally the better player.
He played better from the baseline and move better on the surface which is not that shocking but it did surprise me a bit. This year has been a revival year for him as he is 24-16 on the year.
Last year was largely plagued by injuries so it’s good to see him back to playing regular tennis. Goffin has always been a pretty decent player on grass and he should be favoured in this one.

Humbert Finally Winning
Ugo Humbert is not a stranger to winning at Wimbledon as he had a solid outing a couple of years ago here. He is having a very poor year so far with an 8-17 record so far. All of that made him drop out of the top 100 with points and wins very much needed.
He is getting the job done at Wimbledon with some solid wins. In round one he barely moved past his opponent but he played a rather strong match to take down Casper Ruud in four sets. It’s not that shocking but considering the poor form of Humbert, it is quite an upset.
Ruud is usually quite stable and Humbert had a very good plan here. He elected to attack after dropping the first serve and it worked superbly. He hit over 50 winners in this one and had fewer than 50 errors which was what he needed.
Ruud was quite passive and it simply was not enough to take down a player who, in fairness, played a lot more grass tennis than Ruud.
Goffin v Humbert Prediction and Tip
David Goffin and Ugo Humbert are playing rather solid tennis at this event. They both like to attack and keep points short so that’s the kind of match we should expect. It’s kind of hard to argue who is better at the moment because I think Goffin is quite stable
Humbert did play a good match against Ruud but can he do it again. I’m not so sure because he’s been unable to do this year. I just can’t back him until he proves otherwise. Take Goffin.
