Amanda Anisimova v Harmony Tan Head to Head

It’s 1-0 to Anisimova; she last beat Tan in the 2019 French Open in straight sets.

Anisimova Knocks Out Gauff

Amanda Anisimova has delivered one of the biggest upsets of the tournament by knocking out her compatriot, 18-year-old Cori Coco Gauff.

The number 20 seed took the match 6-7(4), 6-2, 6-1 in two hours and 10 minutes – while she committed 40 unforced errors, she made up for it with 27 winners and a superior first-service win rate.

In the preceding rounds, Anisimova, age 20, had a comparatively easy path with wins over Yuan Yue and Lauren Davis. With this, the young American has also reached the fourth round in all the majors this season.

Her grass swing preparations entailed a sole week in Bad Homburg; she was a quarterfinalist and lost to Simona Halep.

On the whole, the world number 25 has enjoyed a decent year with great consistency on all turfs. She is now 28-10 and has a title from the Melbourne Summer Set and deep runs in Charleston, Rome, and Madrid.

Tan Keeps her Cool

Harmony Tan, age 24, has kept her composure remarkably this past week in London. Playing in just her second Wimbledon, the Frenchwoman has made it to the fourth round to post her best major results.

What’s impressive is her journey – which entailed wins over the former world number one, the mighty Serena Williams, followed by Sara Sorribes Tormo and the local favourite Katie Boulter.

With Williams, Tan was in a three-set slogfest lasting for a little over three hours. That led to her withdrawal from the women’s doubles with her partner being Germany’s Tamara Korpatsch – much to the annoyance of the German.

While that caused some drama, all has been resolved and Tan moved on to hand Boulter a thumping with 6-1, 6-1.

Harmony, now ranking World No. 115, reached the semifinal in Gaiba as part of her Wimbledon preparations. Up until then, most of her season had gone by in early exits.

Anisimova v Tan Prediction and Tip

This is Anisimova’s match to lose. She has a superior form, decent experience in the top-tier, and a fair bit of momentum needed to subdue the dark horse that is Tan. Expect another entertaining affair.
