World no. 27 Alex de Minaur reached the fourth round for the first time at Wimbledon. The 19th seed Australian, who was a semifinalist at Eastbourne in the run-up to the grass court major, is now a win away from a second Grand Slam quarterfinal.
The 2020 U.S. Open quarterfinalist needed two hours and 25 minutes to dash Broady’s hopes in the third round. The Aussie made a quick start. He didn’t face a single break point in the first two sets, but converted one of one in the first and one of seven break points in the second to take a 2-0 lead.
De Mianur also started the third set well, getting a break in the first game, but he struggled to serve out the match at 5-3 as Broady won two games in a row to draw level.
The Aussie however restored his one break advantage in the 11th game and then saved four break points and converted a fourth match point in the last game for a 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 victory.
The Aussie had begun the tournament with a 6-1, 6-3, 7-5 win over Hugo Dellien and then knocked out another Briton, Jack Draper 5-7, 7-6 (7-0), 6-2, 6-3.

Garin Knocks Out Brooksby
Cristian Garin is back in the round of 16 at Wimbledon for the second consecutive year.
Last year in his fourth attempt, he had won his first three matches in the tournament. This year, he had come into the tournament having lost both his matches on grass, but has looked a different player in the major.
Garin defeated Sweden’s Elias Ymer 6-3, 7-5, 6-4 and Hugo Grenier 6-3, 6-1, 6-1 in the first two rounds respectively, before taking out 29th seed Jenson Brooksby in the third round on Saturday.
The World No. 43 improved the season record to 15-15 following Friday’s victory. He broke Brooksby twice in the first set and twice in the second to take a two-sets-to-nil lead. The American made a comeback in the third, only to see the Chilean win the fourth and claim the match 6-2, 6-3, 1-6, 6-4.
The 26-year-old has never reached the last eight of a Grand Slam. Can he make the quarters this time?
