Fritz Cruises Into the Fourth Round
World no. 14 Taylor Fritz continued to cruise at Wimbledon, knocking out Alex Molcan in the third round on Saturday.
The American, who has been in terrific form this season, came into the tournament as Eastbourne champion and the three wins at Wimbledon has extended his win streak to seven matches in a row.
The 24-year-old didn’t face a break point in the first two sets and was broken just once in the third, while he converted 5 of 8 break points to beat the World no. 51, 6-4, 6-1, 7-6 (7-3).
Fritz is yet to drop a set in the tournament. He had begun his campaign with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 win over Lorenzo Musetti and carried that form in the second round, defeating Britain’s Alastair Gray 6-3, 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. In all, the American has struck as many as 42 aces in the first three rounds combined and has been broken just four times.
The 11th seed, who reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time at this year’s Australian Open, will now be playing in the Round of 16 of a major for the second time with an aim to reach a first major quarterfinal.
The 2022 Indian Wells champion improved his season record to 28-10, which also includes a second title in Eastbourne, which he won by defeating Maxime Cressy in the final. Can he keep the unbeaten streak going?

Qualifier Kubler’s Dream Run Continues
Jason Kubler had never won a second round match at a major before, but the Aussie qualifier is enjoying a dream run at the Wimbledon this year and on Saturday, he won a thrilling five-setter to knock out America’s Jack Sock in the third round.
Kubler, who will make his Round of 16 debut at a major on Monday, needed four hours and 15 minutes to win the marathon against the fellow qualifier. The 6-2, 4-6, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 victory saw Kubler convert 5 of 15 break points, while Sock converted 3 of 7.
While both players accumulated 162 points in the match, it was Kubler, who won the key moments to emerge victorious. In other stats, Kubler struck 57 winners, nine fewer than Sock, but made 13 fewer unforced errors than Sock’s 47.
Kubler, who had qualified for the main draw with straight set wins over Cem İlkel, Thiago Agustin Tirante and Elias Ymer respectively, stunned the 28th seed Dan Evans 6-1, 6-4, 6-3 in the opening round and then ousted Dennis Novak 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 in Round 2.
Can the 29-year-old World no. 99 keep the amazing run going?
Fritz v Kubler Prediction and Tip
